Impact Hub Inverness Fusion supports the networking and education of entrepreneurs, new and established, throughout the Highlands and Islands by offering the following services:
- A free Fusion hot-desk for use by entrepreneurs from the area and beyond, located in the Hub on 67a Castle Street, Inverness. The desk is bookable and available from an hour to a month at a time, on a first book, first served basis.
- A Fusion Young Entrepreneur's Award as part of the UHI CREATE new business ideas competition. The prize of £500 will be for a budding young entrepreneur who has the best new idea for a Highlands and Islands business .
- The Fusion Fund for New Entrepreneurs’ Professional Development of £1000 a year will offer grants of up to £200 for new entrepreneurs. The fund is flexible and can be used, for example, to buy training, books, tools, or to pay towards travel costs for a conference or study visit. Grants will be awarded on a first come, first served basis annually, with a minimum of
fuss and paperwork. Download the guidance note and application form today. - £500 is available each year to enable school children to travel to enterprise events, through the Fusion School Enterprise Travel Fund. This could be used by Young Enterprise Scotland (YES) but also by other projects. Find the application form here.
- To encourage those who have started a school-based business to consider taking it forward as a serious business, £500 a year will also be available as loan funding. This money is highly flexible and could be used for any or more of the following: to buy products which could then be sold in local social enterprise shops; to fund the commercial manufacture of the product; to investigate the franchising of the model; to buy the entire business which might then be expanded or sold to a third party; or to fund the founders to enable them to continue the business through their student years. The Fusion School Enterprise Continuation Loan Fund form is available here. As this fund is about helping school groups to generate income from their projects we ask recipients to repay the funding within an agreed timescale, to enable us to support more school groups in this way.
- We will facilitate the delivery of sessions on social enterprise and finance in schools, colleges, and other arenas with young people, such as Young Enterprise Scotland (YES), across the Highlands and Islands.
- In partnership with YES, £1000 is available each year to enable more schools in the Highlands and Islands to register with YES by offering a contribution to the start-up funds required. The funds should be repaid at the end of the year to ensure sustainability of the fund. Check out the YES website.
- A Fusion book on selling will be written and published. Would-be entrepreneurs often struggle with selling and the guide that is produced will be targeted specifically at the Highlands and Islands market.
